Honour for director Vasanth

Director Vasanth was conferred the coveted For the Sake of Honor Award by Rotary Club of Madras Midtwon at a glittering function attended by the likes of director Manirathnam and K Balachander.

The award was conferred up on Vasanth for his contribution to Tamil cinema. Vasanth, who started his career as an associate to Balachander, rose to become a director with ‘Keladi Kanmani’. He followed it up with several blockbusters like ‘Asai’, ‘Nerukku Ner’, ‘Rhythm’, ‘Hey Nee Romba Azhaga irukae’ and ‘Sathumpodaathay’.

Presenting the award Balachander said, he had worked as my associate in 18 films, he was great help to me. He guided me a lot on several occasions. He lets his films do all the talking'

On his part, Manitrathnam heaped laurels on Vasanth describing him a man with immense potential. His films had a strong message and he managed to reach the masses with his excellent narrative style.

David Hopper, Consul General, US Consulate also graced the occasion.
