Private schools in Hyderabad have been warned against raising fees in whatever name for the year 2020-21. In the wake of the pandemic, the District Education Officer (DEO) has reportedly asked his deputies and deputy inspectors to strictly enforce the directive.

Any school found to be violating the rule will have to face "appropriate action". It has to be seen if the schools will be allowed to collect anything other than tuition fees for the coming academic year. As per a recent directive, any sort of non-tuition fee is a no-no.

The directive applies to all schools under State Board, CBSE, ICSE or any other education body.

While checks are in place for schools, proper implementation is not a given. Despite a University Grants Commission directive to colleges against insisting on the immediate payment of fees, reports say that a number of engineering, pharmacy and management education colleges have been demanding fee early on.
