Man rapes mother-in-law, threatens to divorce her daughter

A man from Hyderabad's Gurram Cheruvu has been arrested after he raped his mother-in-law and threatened to divorce her daughter if she revealed the matter to anyone.

The accused, identified as Bhaskar, has been married to the victim's daughter for a year. He took his mother-in-law to an isolated spot on July 31 against her will and then raped her. He further threatened to divorce her daughter if she informed the police about the crime. The victim filed the complaint despite the threat and has been receiving treatment at a government hospital.

The accused has been arrested and booked under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
