It was Boyapati Sreenu's 'Legend' that ensured a thorough reinvention of Jagapathi Babu's career. The yesteryear hero has since continued to wear different variations of the film's salt-n-pepper look. Now that he is playing a key role in another of Boyapati's movie, 'Jaya Janaki Nayaka,' three years after the 'Legend' happened, does Jaggu Bhai think the film will prove to be as big as the 2014 movie?

"We can't compare 'JJN' with 'Legend', but I hope the film will bring me an as much good name," he says.

The actor is all praise for the vision of Boyapati. "He clearly knows what he wants. He goes to any extent to ensure that his stature doesn't come down," the actor says.

In 'Legend', he was a menacing villain who locked horns with the hero. What is he playing in 'JJN'? "In 'Legend', I was burning with ego. In 'JJN', I am playing someone who can die for his prestige," Jaggu Bhai briefs.

"Leaving aside whether he is big or small, one can say with certainty that a new star has been made by Boyapati," the actor avers, analyzing Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas.

He is all praise for producer Miryala Ravindar Reddy. "He didn't compromise anywhere while putting in the monies. He has full faith in the subject. The film has done a good business. We need passionate directors like him," he says.

Does he want to don the role of a producer? "I don't want to. If an artiste doesn't turn up on the sets on time, I will lose my cool. I am a bad businessman who would make a bad producer," he says.

Does he regret doing 'Patel S.I.R'? "I did the movie because I had faith in the subject. How could I have said no to a Sai Korrapati movie? The Teaser was both a merit and a demerit. Having watched it, the audience came to the theatres expecting a full-on thriller, but it was not to be. The film couldn't meet the expectations. Also, 'Patel S.I.R' has proved that the audience won't accept a hero who has faded out in their memories as the main lead," he says rather frankly.

Ask him about the drugs issue which has rocked Tollywood and pat comes the reply, "It's because of their celebrity status that much focus was on them. I think the names could have been kept a secret."

About his forthcoming movies, Jaggu Bhai says that he is doing Akhil's movie and is set to do an Adivi Sesh film as well. "I am also doing Kannada and Tamil," he signs off.
