Director SS Rajamouli's magnum opus BAHUBALI may have missed the chance in the 'Best Foreign language film' category in the 2016 Oscars as the Film Federation of India (FFI) selection committee gave their thumps up for Chaitanya Tamhane`s Marathi film COURT.

However the South film industry, particularly Kannada film industry has reason to feel proud as after years of struggle Kannada film CARE OF FOOTPATH 2 has been selected in the Oscar 2016 race!

According to reports the CARE OF FOOTPATH 2 staring Esha Deol has been selected as a lateral entry for the Academy Awards thus becoming the First Kannada film to have an Oscar entry!

Directed by 19 year old film maverick Kishan Shrikanth, who has the distinction of having registered his name in the prestigious Guinness Book of World Records for being the 'youngest director` when he directed the original CARE OF FOOTPATH in 2006 at the age of mere 10 years!

What may be stunning to readers is that at the age of 10 when Kishan Shrikanth directed CARE OF FOOTPATH, the movie left the film critics dumbfounded not because it was made by a child prodigy but the content and the quality of the film was at par with any professional filmmakers.

In fact the movie was so remarkable that it went on to win the prestigious National Film Award for Best Children's Film.

CARE OF FOOTPATH 2 is set to have its premiere at LA, USA in October in grand style with pomp and spectacle akin to a Hollywood film. The movie will be released in India in November. It will be released in Hindi as KILL THEM YOUNG.

It may be noted The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce had proposed BAHUBALI as official entry in Oscar and were expecting BAHUBALI to break the ice at the Oscars but destiny had something else in store.

Hope what BAHUBALI could not do, will be done by the young genius filmmaker`s Kishan Shrikanth`s CARE OF FOOTPATH 2!

With two Indian films at the Oscar, India has a chance of breaking the jinx but will the Oscar jury take note or like each year give a blind eye to our films? Readers comment!
