Madhimuga General Secretary Vaiko met composer Ilaiyaraaja in London after his symphony performance and personally congratulated him. Speaking to reporters, Vaiko praised Ilaiyaraaja for proving that music originated in Tamil and showcasing his talent in London once again.
Ilaiyaraaja composed a remarkable symphony in just 35 days, recorded it in two days, and performed it with 90 musicians in London. His music has deeply touched fans worldwide.
Vaiko criticized the central government for not highlighting Ilaiyaraaja’s achievements through national media or radio. He urged that Ilaiyaraaja’s symphony should be recognized across India, including Mumbai, Kolkata, and Delhi.
He further expressed that many in North India do not acknowledge Tamil pride. Wishing the composer further success, Vaiko also stated that the Indian government should show more respect towards Ilaiyaraaja and should have given him a grand welcome upon his arrival in Delhi from London.
