Ilayaraja's nephew passes away

Ilayaraja's nephew Pavalar Mainthan aka Joe has reportedly passed away.  He was the son of Ilayaraja's eldest brother and famed poet and musician Pavalar Varadarajan.

Joe had worked as an co-director to R.V. Udayakumar for several years in blockbuster films including 'Kizhakku Vaasal', 'Singara Velan' and 'Chinna Goundar'.  He later wrote the dialogues for 'Karkka Kadadara' and his debut film as director is titled 'Naalu Perum Romba Nallavanga' with music score by cousin Yuvan Shankar Raja. Unfortunately Joe passed away before he could complete his first movie as director which was his long time dream. We extend our condolences to the Ilayaraja family for the irreparable loss
