Indecent demands shock lyricist Shreshta

Lyricist Shreshta of 'Pelli Choopulu' and 'Arjun Reddy' fame recently opened up about how unwanted sexual demands are commonplace in the film industry.
I had to postpone my career because of a few bad experiences. Many people have openly suggested to me that I won't be able to make a name for myself in the industry only with my writing. I have learned over the years that it's not just men but also women who unabashedly perpetuate such things, Shreshta says.
Once, a woman director asked Shreshta to travel to Goa for a party. When she said no, the director told her that someone was keen on proposing her and that he had arranged a grand party to mark the occasion. When Shreshta strongly refused the invite, an unknown man called her up and chided her for refusing to make it to Goa. I was helpless. I warned them strongly and left the industry for a few months, she adds.
In another instance, the wife of a producer asked her to submit to her husband's sexual demands!
Shreshta's shocking experience proves why only very few women survive in the film industry. Clearly, the male-dominated filmdom is where sexual exploitation, abuse and overtures are rampant.
