After the construction and inauguration of the world’s tallest statue dedicated to Sardar Vallabhai Patel in western Gujarat, the state has prepared to make the headlines again with yet another record. The PM’s wish will be fulfilled with the construction of the Motera Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, which is supposedly going to be the largest cricket stadium in the world.

The stadium will be built across 63 acres of land and is being designed by renowned architect firm M/s. Populous. The cost of the project is estimated to be Rs. 700 crore?, with the construction tender being bagged by L&T. The stadium is also accommodating an indoor parking academy and three practice grounds.

"There will be a concourse to connect the entire stadium for pedestrian and vehicular movement. Moreover, the club house will be equipped with 55 rooms and an Olympic size swimming pool,” Gujarat Cricket Association VP Parimal Nathwani said. He also tweeted out pictures of the construction of the stadium, stating that “the dream project will become the pride of entire India."

The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is currently the largest stadium in the world in terms of capacity, followed by Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
