India has contributed Rs. 3.2 crore to the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund in that hopes that increased funding will lead to better peace efforts by the UN body.

India has been a member of the Peacebuilding Commission since December 2005, when the Commission was started, and has contributed a total of Rs. 32.3 crore to the Fund.

Speaking at the fund’s annual stakeholder’s meeting yesterday, India's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Tanmaya Lal expressed hope that, by attracting more funding, the fund would be able to make a greater peace impact around the world, as peace building and maintenance are a time-consuming investment needing strong financial support.
