India's COVID-19 tally crosses 61 lakh; Deets inside

As on 29 September, 2020, 08:00 AM, India has got 61,45,291 confirmed cases. Recovered cases are 51,01,397 (83.0%) in number. Active cases are 9,47,586 (15.4%) in number. Deaths are 96,318 (1.6%) in number.

There were 776 deaths in the last 24 hours. India's death toll now stands at 96,318. The global death tally has crossed the one million mark.

The government on Tuesday said that there has been a steady improvement in the COVID-19 recovery rate since the initiation of lockdown on March 25.

The Health Ministry on Tuesday sounded exuberant about the recovery rate. "About 100% increase in recoveries has been witnessed in the past month," it said, talking about the all-India average.

Analyzing the Case Fertility Rate in large States, Prof. Shamika Ravi said on Monday that CFR is falling in most States. "Punjab's CFR is highest in the country. Maharashtra and Gujarat's CFR is declining but much higher than all-India as of now. The CFR of West Bengal is now as high as Delhi and Puducherry," she says.
