Director Shankars official statement after two hours police inquiry

On February 19th tragedy struck the 'Indian 2' sets at the EVP Studios on the outskirts of Chennai as a giant crane carrying a heavy light apparatus came crashing down and killing three crew members. Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal and Shankar were among the lucky ones who missed death by a whisker.

The police had sent a summons to many of the 'Indian 2' team and on Thursday director Shankar appeared in person and his statement was recorded from 11 am to 2 pm. A visibly shaken Shankar has released an official letter in which he has shared his profound grief for the lives lost.

Shankar has shared that it is unfortunate that the accident occurred in spite of all precautionary measures taken by him and his team. He has emotionally written that more than being relieved that he escaped miraculously his heart is grieving over the lost lives. Regarding his assistant director Krishna who passed away the ace director has praised him to have been a very focussed worker who within a month of joining him won his confidence in handling such a big project.

Similarly, Shankar also remembered Madhu the production assistant who was always there to fulfill his needs of any food or beverage he needed while working round the clock. Chandran the set assistant who also lost his life had enthusiastically worked in 'Indian 2' hoping for a long schedule.

Shankar has announced that he is giving monetary relief of rupees one crore to the families of the deceased pointing out that though it will not bring them back to life atleast it could give them some economical relief.
