The Indian Consulate in New York confirmed the death of another Indian student in Ohio on Friday, setting off a tragic event. We have identified the student as Uma Satya Sai Gadde, who recently began his studies in Cleveland, Ohio. Investigations are ongoing to establish what killed him.

The Indian Consulate condoled the bereaved family of Gadde and assured full support at this hour of grief. The consulate officials are trying to get the help of the family to carry out the formalities required in India for repatriating the body of Gadde.

This is how the Consulate wrote on social media: "We are deeply anguished by the untimely demise of Mr. Uma Satya Sai Gadde, an Indian student in Cleveland, Ohio. Police are investigating, and we are in constant touch with the family in India, extending all possible assistance, including facilitation for the repatriation of the mortal remains of Mr. Uma Gadde."

This is another big incident of its kind involving Indian students in the United States. A month ago, Mohammed Abdul Arafat, another Indian student, vanished from the Cleveland area due to a financial dispute, prompting unknown individuals to call his house and demand a ransom for his release. Earlier this year, an attack in Chicago caused grievous injuries to a student from Hyderabad, Syed Mazahir Ali.

Such tragic incidents include the shooting of Neel Acharya from Purdue University and the gruesome murder in Georgia, which have sent shock waves through the Indian community in the US. At least 10 reported deaths, including Indian or Indian-origin students, have taken place in the US since the beginning of this year, 2024.
