INX Media case: judgment reserved on Karthi’s bail plea

The Delhi High Court reserved its judgment on arrested industrialist Karthi’s bail plea in the multi-crore INX Media case.

Karthi, son of former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, was arrested dramatically at Chennai Airport on 28th February minutes after he landed up at the Airport from his London tour.  He has been in judicial custody in connection with his role in getting kickbacks from INX Media which was granted some ‘sops’ by the then Union Finance Minister and his father P. Chidambaram.

Justice S.P. Garg heard the arguments of Karthi’s lawyer and the CBI counsel before announcing his decision to reserve the judgment.

CBI opposed Karthi’s bail plea stating that there was a very ‘strong possibility’ of the accused tampering the evidence and ‘influencing the witnesses’ if he was let out on bail.
