The Chennai Super Kings are having a rollercoaster season this year at Tata IPL 2022. The side's star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was named as the new captain ahead of the new season. CSK struggled to find a balanced playing 11 in the initial matches and lost the games as it went with several inexperienced players.

Jadeja, as a captain, stumbled to find his form as an all-rounder as he failed in batting and fielding. After numerous losses, Jadeja handed over the captaincy back to MS Dhoni himself. Thala Dhoni led CSK to 2 victories out of the 3 matches after he took back the leadership. The franchise had seen all of it this year from comfortable wins, struggling performance, highest opening partnership and losing the games that are meant to be won.

Now, the side has tallied 8 points from 4 wins out of 11 total matches. Yesterday, CSK defeated Delhi Capitals comfortably by 91 runs. The Super Kings put up a whopping total of 208 and outsmarted DC's batting lineup for 117 runs. But still, the defending champions have a teeny tiny chance of making it to the playoffs if they manage to win the remaining three matches with a good net run rate and few of the other team's games have to result in CSK's favour.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni's answer about making it to the playoffs during yesterday's post-match presentation is going viral on social media. When quizzed about the chances of CSK ending up in the playoffs, the skipper said, "One at a time is good enough. I am not a big fan of math. Even at school, I was not good at math. You write your own fortune. What is important is you always have to be at your best. There is no point thinking ‘okay this team has to lose, some other team has to do at this NRR’. It just puts added pressure. Just turn up for your game, plan well and execute your plans well. Enjoy the rest of the IPL matches. You don’t want the pressure. When two other franchises are playing, you don’t want to be under pressure. So enjoy the IPL, if it happens it happens. What is most important is to make sure we do well. If we qualify for the playoffs, very good. If not it’s not the end of the world." (sic).

As Thala says, even if CSK can't do it this year, we all know that they are always known for their epic comebacks. It is worth mentioning that Dhoni took the team to the title win in 2021 after a forgettable season in 2020b at UAE. Similarly, CSK began this season without any clues but now the side looks formidable as the young talents have found their spark and we have the perfect opening batter Devon Conway to replace Faf Du Plessis.
