US President Donald Trump has been issued an arrest warrant by Iran's government over the killing of its top commander Qasem Soleimani in January, according to the official Islamic Republic News Agency.

Although the arrest warrant may have been issued, reports suggest that Trump faces no danger of arrest. The arrest warrant reportedly mentions Donald Trump and more 30 other people whom Iran claims were involved in ordering and/or carrying out the drone strike on January 3, which resulted in the death of General Qasem Soleimani. Those mentioned in the warrant face murder and terrorism charges, according to the news agency. "Thirty-six people who were involved in the assassination of Hajj Qassem were identified, including political and military officials from the United States and other governments, have been ordered by the judiciary to be given a red alert to Interpol," Tehran prosecutor Ali Alghasimehr stated. Although Alqasimehr did not identify anyone else sought other than Trump, he implied that Iran would continue to pursue his prosecution even after the end of his presidency.

Also, a red notice was requested to be put out for Trump by Iran, which apparently represents the highest level arrest request issued by Interpol. Soleimani was killed in a US drone strike on January 3 in Iraq. Iran retaliated by launching a barrage of ballistic missiles at US and coalition forces in Iraq, outside the Baghdad Airport.
