Thalapathy Vijay starrer 'Varisu' is on track to set the silver screens on fire this Pongal 2023. Vamshi Paidipally is directing the film, produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations. The makers are busy with the post-production and promotional works. A grand audio launch event for the movie is planned to be held at Nehru Stadium, Chennai on December 24.

Meanwhile, the film's producer Dil Raju recently took part in an interview with a Telugu channel. He made a statement comparing Vijay and Ajith's stardom in the interaction which ignited a controversy. Then he cleared the air regarding his words. Interestingly, Dil Raju said in the same interview that Thalapathy Vijay wasn't the first choice for Varisu.

In the latest clip going viral on social media, the interviewer asks whether there isn't any hero in Telugu to do 'Vaarasudu'. Dil Raju says, "When Vamshi narrated the story to me, we wanted to do this with Mahesh Babu but he was busy with another film. So, we approached Ram Charan but he was busy with my own banner's 50th film."

"Allu Arjun and Prabhas were also busy. We couldn't find any star hero to do this script in Telugu. We were thinking who would be good for this script. That's when we approached Vijay sir and the project took off. When we contacted Vijay sir, he listened to the content for half an hour and accepted the project," added the Varisu producer.
