Speculations surrounding Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Jananayagan being a remake of the Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari have now almost been confirmed. According to industry sources, the production team behind Jananayagan has officially acquired the remake rights of the 2023 Balakrishna-starrer by reportedly paying ₹4.5 crore.
Directed by H. Vinoth, Jananayagan has been progressing rapidly with its shoot over the past few months. While initial rumors hinted at it being a remake, the latest information about the rights purchase solidifies this claim.
Bhagavanth Kesari, directed by Anil Ravipudi, was a commercial success, grossing over ₹130 crore. The original featured Balakrishna as a former police officer, a role that Vijay is said to be reprising in the Tamil version.
The film also boasts an ensemble cast including Pooja Hegde as the female lead, Bobby Deol as the antagonist, and key roles played by Mamitha Baiju, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Prakash Raj. The technical crew features top names such as Anirudh Ravichander (music), Sathyan Sooryan (cinematography), Anal Arasu (stunts), Selvakumar (art direction), Pradeep Raghav (editing), Pallavi (costumes), and Gopi Prasanna (publicity design).
With the remake rights secured and a star-studded team on board, Jananayagan is shaping up to be one of the most awaited films in Vijay’s career.
