‘Jaadugar’ Modi can even make democracy disappear in the country, says Rahul Gandhi

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said today that the prime-minister was such a ‘jaadugar’ (magician) that he can even make democracy in the country ‘disappear’ into thin air.

Rahul is in Shillong, Meghalaya to address an election meeting in the State Capital ahead of the Assembly polls scheduled to be held in the State next Tuesday (27th February). The Congress, which has completed three successive and successful tenures in power in the State, hopes to recreate a miracle by winning for the fourth successive time.

Taking the prime-minister on, Rahul said “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a talented musician who can make something appear or disappear with just a wave of his hand; he has done so successfully in the past and continues to do so. Modi made scamsters such as Vijay Mallya, Lalit Modi and Nirav Modi disappear from the country when the law-enforcing agencies wanted to arrest them.  Like they reappeared in some foreign land, Modi would make democracy ‘disappear’ totally from India.

“Scams involving Mallya and the Modis categorically say one thing very clearly: that this BJP-led Centre is not serious in its attempts in rooting out corruption; in fact, it takes active part in corruption. Moreover, Modi had ‘sold’ the dreams of people of India four years back by giving them false promises of generating employment opportunities for 2 crores and depositing Rs.15 lakhs in people’s accounts.  Modi’s Govt. has only instilled fear, unemployment, threat of violence in people’s minds,” he concluded.
