The film crew of 'Jaat', starring Sunny Deol, has officially announced that a controversial scene has been removed from the movie. The film sparked controversy after it was alleged that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) were portrayed in a negative light. Following this, several theaters in Tamil Nadu faced opposition to screening the film.
Responding to the backlash, the filmmakers released a statement saying that a particular scene had received strong objections. They clarified that the scene was not intended to hurt any religious or cultural sentiments and expressed deep regret for the offense caused. The team acted swiftly to remove the scene from the film and apologized sincerely to those affected.
'Jaat', directed by Gopichand Malineni, features Sunny Deol, Regina, and Randeep Hooda in pivotal roles. Although the film did not meet expectations in terms of critical reception, it managed to earn over ₹85 crore at the box office. Encouraged by the film’s success, the team has announced a sequel, 'Jaat 2', with the same cast and crew expected to return.
