One of the latest films to hit theaters this week is the spy thriller Jack, starring star boy Siddu Jonnalagadda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya. Bommarillu Bhaskar is the director of the movie. Let's take a look at how the film fares in this review.
Story:
Due to a tragic incident in his childhood, Pablo Neruda alias Jack (Siddu Jonnalagadda) decides to become a RAW agent for India. Where did this operation, which started separately, lead? Who is the terrible terrorist Ataur Rahman? What did he plan? What did Jack and Manoj do in this process? What is the role of Afshan Begum (Vaishnavi Chaitanya)? Forms the story of the movie.
Review:
First of all, if we look at the actors, they did a good job. After Sidhu's role as Tillu, he is back with another solid character in Jack. Sidhu has given a good performance as Jack. He is also very handsome and confident in his role, and he entertains with his trademark comedy timing. He also showed his dance skills well in the songs. Vaishnavi also did well in her role. Some scenes between Sidhu and him generated fun and entertainment.
Along with these, Prakash Raj did justice to his role. Naresh also did a good job of portraying many emotions along with good comedy. The other main actors, including these, shined in their roles.
After a well-paced and interesting first half, the second half feels a bit like a regular spy action thriller. The story feels a bit predictable towards the climax. This doesn't make it very exciting. Moreover, some of the logics also seem simple. Another drawback is Vaishnavi Chaitanya's character. She did well in the film but after a while, you can feel that her character has been imposed on you.
The production values in the film are okay. They went to some real locations as per the story but no care was taken in the visual effects. VR Vaidhya has made many scenes alive with his score. The original songs are also good. The cinematography is good. The editing is just okay.
As for director Bhaskar, his attempt to present a new subject did not wor on the screen. Overall, Sidhu Jonnalagadda has provided decent entertainment from his side in this 'Jack'. Also, many comedy scenes and spy scenes seem okay. But it would have been better if this momentum had continued in the second half as well.
Verdict:
Jack has its moments in the first half but the second half of the movie failed to make an impression. Altogether, it's a disappointing effort from the makers and Siddhu had to taste a Flop.
Rating: 2.25 / 5.0
