Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCC) has recommended pacers Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and women cricket team leg-spinner Poonam Yadav for the prestigious Arjuna Awards. Arjuna Awards are given by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India to honour excellence in sports.

Last year, Indian women's cricket team opener Smriti Mandhana was the only cricketer to win the award. A meeting was conducted in Delhi by the Supreme Court appointed Committee to discuss nominees for the award. As per reports, GM cricket operations Saba Karim has recommended the four cricketers.

Jasprit Bumrah debuted for India in 2016 and is now the lead bowler, who was selected in ICC Test team of the year in 2018.Mohammed Shami came back after personal issues and fitness concerns and scalped 68 Test wickets in 2018. Both the players are part of India's world Cup team and Poonam Yadav has been a very consistent player in women's team and is in top 10 bowlers of the world.
