Superstar Rajinikanth‘s highly anticipated ‘Jailer 2’, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is generating massive excitement with rumors of Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan joining in a guest role. Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty fueled the speculation in a recent Bengali interview with SITI Cinema, casually mentioning SRK while praising the film’s script and cast.

When asked about stories that impressed him lately, Mithun said (translated from Bengali), “The story of Jailer 2 has captivated me greatly,” and listed experienced stars including “Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Shah Rukh Khan, Ramya Krishnan, and Shivarajkumar.” In parts of the interview, he even hinted at playing the antagonist, facing off against these actors. The clip has gone viral, with fans celebrating the potential Rajinikanth-SRK collaboration.

However, there is no official confirmation from the makers, Sun Pictures, or Shah Rukh Khan’s team regarding his involvement. The first ‘Jailer’ featured guest appearances from Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, and Jackie Shroff. For the sequel, confirmed or reported cast includes Mithun Chakraborty, Vijay Sethupathi, Vidya Balan, Vinayakan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Santhanam, with all key actors from the original returning.

Produced by Sun Pictures with music by Anirudh Ravichander, shooting is progressing rapidly and expected to wrap by January 2026. Reports suggest a theatrical release around August 2026, targeting a holiday weekend for maximum impact.
