Union Home Minister Arun Jaitley has denied that there was ‘cash crunch’ in Banks and ATMs (Automated Tellar Machines) of all banks across the country.

Jaitley underwent a kidney-transplant surgery a few days back and took oath only recently as Rajya Sabha M.P. Though he won the polls more than a month back.  The 65-year old Minister has denied opposition parties’ charge that an ‘undeclared economic emergency’ has been in force in the country, with Banks and ATMs showing ‘no money’ card to people and customers.

ATM centres in eastern Maharashtra, parts of Bihar and Gujarat besides Andhra Pradesh and Telengana haven’t been dispensing mone to customers for the past few days triggering panic that an economic emergency was around the cards.  In Tamil Nadu too, customers reported that many ATM centres in Ambur and Vaniyambadi have been displaying ‘no money’ cards much to the disappointment of the people.

Even thos ATMs which were working weren’t dispensing the money.  In the meantime, Jaitlety took to his Twitter account to quell such apprehensions among the people.  “A survey has been conducted about cash crunch across the country; the reality is that more than the requisite amount of money is in flow.  Crunch at some places is purely temporary in nature; this is not an uncommon thing to happen,” he said.
