‘Jananayagan’ Is Not a Remake of ‘Bhagavanth Kesari’ – Here’s Why the Rights Were Still Bought

Recent reports suggested that Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Jananayagan is a remake of the 2023 Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari, starring Balakrishna. It was also revealed that the Jananayagan team had acquired the remake rights of the Telugu film for ?4.5 crore, further fueling speculation.

However, new information now clarifies the situation. According to sources, Jananayagan is not a full-fledged remake of Bhagavanth Kesari. The team has reportedly used only one key thematic element from the film—specifically, a scene addressing the concept of “Good Touch and Bad Touch.”

To avoid any copyright or legal complications due to the use of this sensitive and significant scene, the makers of Jananayagan chose to officially purchase the remake rights of Bhagavanth Kesari.

Insiders confirm that the overall story, characters, and plot of Jananayagan are entirely original and not adapted from the Telugu film. The rights were acquired purely as a precautionary legal measure for the inclusion of a single concept.
