Jaya TV CEO Vivek interrogated by income-tax officials

On the fifth day of the on-going large-scale income tax raids against Sasikala (former aide of former chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa) and her relatives/friends, Jaya TV’s CEO Vivek (son of Ilavarasi, sister-in-law and jail-mate of Sasikala) was interrogated by the income-tax officials at the Income Tax Office in Nungambakkam, Chennai.

The raids, one of the largest such exercises of its kind, have been involving more than 2,000 income-tax officials as they targeted all movable and immovable properties and bank accounts/other assets owned by Sasikala’s extended family in Chennai and other parts of the State and country. It is said that 355 members of Sasikala’s family are under the radar of taxmen.

Vivek, his sister Krishnapriya and Diwakaran were the prime targets of the raid which spilled over to the fifth day yesterday. Taxmen continued their search operations at the trio’s residences/other establishments yesterday also.

In the evening, Vivek was taken to the Income Tax Office in Nungambakkam, Chennai where he was being interrogated till late into the night. What transpired during the interrogation wasn’t made available to the press.
