MAA controversy: Jeevitha explains allegations on money transfer

The split within the Movie Artists' Association is well-known. The Telugu film industry body has been divided into two camps: the Naresh camp and the Shivaji Raja camp. The senior actor Naresh recently won the MAA elections and has been its President since April 1. Jeevitha Rajasekhar is the General Secretary.

The other day, the Shivaji Raja camp made allegations that Jeevitha's daughter received Rs 7.50 lakh into her bank account. Who transferred the amount? The MAA did it officially. The Shivaji Raja camp has been making "insinuations" ever since this news was leaked to the outside world.

Speaking to a daily, Jeevitha has explained the money transfer. "The new Executive Committee had recently planned to carry out advertisements thanking the efforts of the Telangana government toward poor artists in the MAA. I had spent Rs 7.5 lakh personally since Treasurer, Rajeev Kanakala, was not in Hyderabad. He transferred the amount when he returned to work," Jeevitha said.

Jeevitha added that it would be good if the opposition camp does its homework before making noise. Rajeev himself belongs to the Shivaji Raja camp, she added.
