Jilla

Surprising tunes, blaring beats, stalwarts voices, Universal Star and Ilayathalapathy - what more do you need for a grand opening? 'Jilla' has been on the top of charts from the day the audio was launched, and now the time has come to be carried away by the visuals. With three teasers and a spectacular trailer gathering viewership like never before, Nesan's debut is all set to thunder in cinemas from this Friday.

Mohanlal is back to Tamil after taking a hiatus here, since Ulaga Nayagan's 'Unnai Pol Oruvan'; Vijay on the other hand has been giving us smashing hits - one every year. Madurai seems to be the hotcake in today's Kollywood scenario, and one of the pioneers who took to the temple town is 'Jilla' team. Happy-go-lucky carefree lads in and around Madurai are fondly referred to as 'Jilla', which explains the movie's title. Clad in simple yet striking attire, Ilayathalapathy is portrayed as a modern hipster 'Jilla', Shakthi; Mohanlal on the other hand is cast as Shiva, the Godfather to Shakthi, in traditional South Indian outfits, and sports a salt-and-pepper look. Pretty lady Kajal Aggarwal pairs up with Vijay for the second time, after the 2012 blockbuster 'Thupakki'.

From what we hear, 'Jilla' is sure to be an action entertainer. The leads Shiva and Shakthi unite to rein good over bad, and bring the latter down, working hand-in-hand. But it is not only action; Soori plays Vijay's mate, and as we can see from the trailer, the film also has a good bout of comedy, in Vijay's own unique style. Britain based actor Scarlet Wilson has performed with Vijay for a song in the film, and she is reported to have said that Vijay is one of the best dancers she has ever seen. Also in the cast are Niveda Thomas, Mahat, Brahmanandam, Thambi Ramaiah, Vidyullekha Raman, and many more for good variety of entertainment. So there, 'Jilla' has everything to qualify for a clean entertainer, aptly certified U by the Censor Board.

'Jilla' comes under the banner of Super Good Films, produced by RB Choudary; it is worth mentioning that Vijay's last outing with the banner was a phenomenal hit, 'Thirupachi'. Imman is noted for his standalone style of music with authentic and novel usage of instruments. The composer has chosen the pride of South India and used music styles from God's own country, extensively. With Ganesh Rajavelu canning the crystal clear images, snipped to precision by Don Max, Nesan debuts as a director with a highly talented fleet. Having made 18 crore rupees already, in channel rights, and hitting a good 2000 screens across the globe, marches forward the powerful Shakthi-Shiva combination to win over the evil. Put your hands together for 'Jilla', gearing up for Pongal treat this week.
