Joke called 'Kaala' headache & a missed opportunity

With 'Kaala' allegedly getting postponed to June for all practical purposes, quite a few Tollywoodians have been caught unawares. In anticipation of the April 27 release of the Rajinikanth-starrer, many Telugu films started eyeing only May second week and beyond, especially because Kaala's arrival postponed 'Na Peru Surya' to May 4.
However, due to the indefinite Kollywood strike, 'Kaala' is hardly in the reckoning this Summer. While this is bad news for the movie and Rajinikanth's fans, is Tollywood in a position to cash in? So far, only 'Achari America Yatra' is poised to do that. The comedy was to hit the screens on April 6, but it got postponed mainly because of the 'Rangasthalam' effect (allegedly). It's a blessing in disguise, one hopes.
There was a time when 'Bharat Ane Nenu' and 'NPS' were confused because of 'Kaala'. The issue rankled them for weeks. In retrospect, the headache was a joke! Had 'Kaala' not been there in the race from the beginning, this summer would have accommodated 3-4 more releases perhaps! It seems to be a missed opportunity this Summer.
