Joker
Joker' is an upcoming social satire film directed by Raju Murugan who was critically acclaimed for his debut movie ‘Cuckoo’.
Guru Somasundaram of ‘Aaranya Kandam’ and ‘Jigarthanda’ fame has acted in the lead character Mannar Mannan, who is a middle aged man. Noted theater personality M.Ramasamy has acted in a character named Ponnoonjal. He is someone who is angry about the injustices of the society and would resemble legendary Tamil writer Jeyakanthan in looks as well as thoughts and dialogues. Writer Bava Chelladurai and Sa.Balamurugan have also acted in important characters in the film.
Gaythri and Ramya have played the two central female characters Isai and Mallika respectively. Both these character will have equal importance as that of the male lead.
Chezhiyan has handled the cinematography while Sean Roldon has rendered the musical score. Shanmugam Velusamy is handling the Editing. Satheesh Kumar has worked as the Art Director.
S.R.Prakash Babu and S.R.Prabhu have produced ‘Joker’ under their Dream Warrior Pictures banner.
The film has been shot in Dharmapuri after conducting a six month Recce in that town. Many people from Dharmapuri have acted in the film.
Rajumurugan described the film in the following words and that would well serve the best preview of its content. "This is a film about the society. In today’s era of digitalization and development, people protests have also increased in India. The film is a story about this contradiction. Generally people who start protesting have been looked upon as Jokers in initial stages. There are so many examples for this including Bharathiyar. That’s why the film has been titled as Joker. Protestors are not jokers. This story will reveal who actually is the joker in this society."
Songs by Sena Roldon have already become a hit especially the song 'Ennaga sir unga Sattam' that was released as the first single track on April 1 has turned out to be a huge hit and it has been shared viral in social media. The song is mainly celebrated for its staricial lyrics that questions the power centers of the country,
The trailer of the film has also served as a neat and impactful preview of a social sattire and this has garnered enormous pre release positive buzz for the film.
'Joker' will be hitting the screens on August 12, 2016.
