Jyothi Lakshmi Music Review

Sunil Kashyap, the music director, is here with an album.  The singers are Uma Neha, Sravana Bhargavi, Hema Chandra, Pranavi, Venu, Lipsika.

With all songs by Bhaskarabhatla, get ready for a massy flavour.

Jyothi Lakshmi

Artist: Uma Neha
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla

For a title song, the musician delivers tunes that merely pass muster.  Uma Neha's vibrant vocals are the best part and a redeeming feature of an otherwise superficial musical output.  Bhaskarabhatla's lyrical quality needs no special introduction; for this song, he marshalls his idea of item song quite well.

Ninu Chudanga

Artist: Hema Chandra
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla

It's a tribute to Jyothi Lakshmi's gracious looks and glamorous avatar.  It is 'nadumu' time again and trust the director to make the most of it.  The tuning has a rip-off effect here and there, although it entertains overall.  Bhaskarabhatla's simple lyrics are laced with romantic feel and sans crassness.  The song could well be the best hit, lyrically.

Chusindi Chalu

Artist: Sravana Bhargavi
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla

Bhaskarabhatla's creative lyrical best is here.  His word play brings out the best of the item girl's psyche.  The conceptualization surely makes it apt for a voluptuous actress like Charmme.  Sravana Bhargavi gives an electrifying dekko, to be sure.  Her voice breathes 'item life' into a song of his genre.  Sunil Kashyap's tuning is inspired but foot-tapping nevertheless.

Vodhodhu

Artists: Pranavi, Venu
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla

The album's first and only duet is un-Puri Jagannadh.  Pranavi and Venu have mellifluous vocals and they are the best in terms of rendition for a song of this genre.  Sunil Kashyap tries a cross between Mani Sharma and Thaman; he comes out with flying colours.  The lyricist is known for duets as well, tinged with some classy flavour.  This one is devoid of all the massy flavour of the album.

Kanti Paape

Artists: Lipsika
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla

Lipsika's vocals and Puri's conceptualization are the best part of this song.  The rendition is natural and sans any embellishments.  Sunil Kashyap does a good job in dishing out a dramatic musical output.  In the mode of a non-duet, the song is a tribute to love.

Chetiki Gajulu

Artist: Sravana Bhargavi
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla

The song is like a theme song and entertains it as if it were a song of a big star.  Sravana Bhargavi's style is on display yet again here.  Her radical voice makes it all the more masculine and raw and refined at once.  The lyricist pens some creative lines that are laced with a profound sense.

Raja Raja

Artist: Uma Neha
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla

The item song walks the beaten path and is full of clichetic rendition and musical output.  The names of places and shoutings apart, it is a song with a semi-baked dekko.  Uma Neha passes muster.

Verdict: Sunil Kashyap gives a fairly good musical output.  With so many songs and only one duet, this is a hatke album in terms of the components.
