Isaipuyal A.R.Rahman steps into 50 today. The musical hearthrob of Indian youngsters with two Oscars, one Grammy, Golden Globe, BAFTA, four National Awards for Indian films and a lot more regional, national and international awards and acclaim is always that unassuming man who speaks less and makes people either speak with adulation or go speechless with his music.

As every year passes by the, achievements, acclaims and popularity of Rahman reach astounding heights. Just recently his song and music score for 'Pele' has been longlisted for Oscar and he may be winning the third Oscar award soon and this just an example.

Like every year, the legendary composer is busy working on regional, national and international films. His upcoming Tamil films include his mentor Mani Ratnam's 'Kaatru Veliyidai' and Shankar's '2.0' and we can be assured oft two chartbuster Tamil music albums in 2017.

Rahman is also consented to work on director Sundar'C's mega budget period flick 'Sangamithra' and unconfirmed sources suggest that he will also provide music for Vijay's 61st film with director Atlee'. He may also be teaming up with Gautham Menon for the third time for 'Dhuruva Natchathiram' and give another mega hit music album like 'Vinnaithandi Varuvayaa' and 'Achcham Yenbathu Madamaiyada', if we the fans are lucky enough.

It is an undeniable fact that Rahman is the favorite of a huge majority of Indians. It won't be an understatement to say that his music is one of those few things that passes through every nuke and corner from Kashmir to Kanyakumari as a source of enjoyment and happiness. In a career spanning close to three decades that started with Mani Ratnam's 1992 pan Indian blockbuster 'Roja,, the Mozart of Madras has given innumerable evergreen hit songs. Even while writing this article many youngsters will be immersed in the joy of listening to his latest hit song 'Thalli Pogathey' which is easily the 'Song of the Year 2016. He is equally popular as a singer and his journey as a singer started with his first film as a music director. All the songs he has rendered his voice have hit the target in mesmerising the listener.

Rahman has also provided fantastic background score in most of his films and his music has been a leveraging factor for many films falling under various genres. The fact that he is equally brilliant in film score as much as songs is evident from the fact that he won the Oscar for 'Slum Dog Millionaire' under the song as well as Original score categories there by getting dual Oscar pride for India with one film. It may be a less known fact that he has won four Filmfare Awards under the Best Background Score category for 'Swades', 'Guru', 'Jodha Akbar' and 'Legend of 'Bhagat Singh'.

With four National Awards as The Best Music Director to his credit, we wish Rahman wins an award under the newly added category of National Award for the Best Background Score very soon.

The Indian Government has crowned him with the Civilian honours of Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. There is no doubt that the Oscar Nayagan definitely deserves the Bharat Ratna mainly for making Indians proud in the International music arena. We hope the present Government takes the honour of conferring that on a much deserved candidate.

Finally, IndiaGlitz wishes a Happy Birthday to Rahman and we pray the almighty for his long and happy life ahead and we can be assured that he will keep us engrossed in musical bliss for many more years to come.
