Vijay Sethupathi recedes to push Tamil cinema forward - Kadaisi Vivasayi trailer review

Vijay Sethupathi is proving to the world once again that he is a mass hero of a rare variety giving scant respect for stardom or image and continuing to strive for meaningful cinema. His latest 'Kadaisi Vivasayi' is one such attempt where VJS the star has receded to the background so as to aide his close friend Manikandan to tell his very relevant story to the largest audience possible.

'Kadaisi Vivasayi' trailer shows the hero a seventy-year-old farmer the last of his breed who knows nothing beyond his crops and land. His innocence is such that he does not even understand that a court proceeding for murder will prevent him from tending to his farm. There is Yogi Babu as an elephant Mahut providing the comical touch while the Makkal Selvan is apparently playing a mentally unhinged man who is somehow a key player in the plot.

Manikandan has written, shot and edited 'Kadaisi Vivasayi' keeping it on a realistic note with Isaigniani Ilayaraja enhancing the visuals with his background score. The trailer has elements of comedy, satire, mystery and the strong message that should be shouted at the top of the voice. Judging by 'Kaaka Muttai' and 'Aandavan Kattalai' Manikandan promises a tale of substance told in his inimitable entertaining style.
