S3 Films `Kadhal Solla Vanthen' is a romance directed by Bhoopathy Pandian. The film has Balaji of `Pattalam' and Meghna as the young lovers in the film.

Bhoopathy Pandian debuted with an off beat story `Devadhaiyai Kanden'. Now after commercial cocktails like `Thiruvilaiyadal Aarambam' and `Malaikottai', he has returned to romance.

The music for the film is by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The audio of the film was released on June 7 at the Sathyam Theatre in Chennai.

`Kadhal Solla Vanthen' album has five songs. Four songs are written by Na. Muthukumar while one is by and Saradhi. Yuvan Shankar Raja Udit Narayan, Vijay Yesudas, Chidambaram Sivakumar Poosari and Karthik are the voices.

Point to note is that there is no female singer used in the album.

1. Oh Shala - Listen here

Singer: Yuvan Shankar Raja

Lyricist: Saradhi

In `Oh Shala` Yuvan satisfies with what is expected of him. A soft, mellifluous tune with interesting rhythmic touches and a rich vocal. Percussions and the strings will surprise when you hear it right. Saradhi's lyric is very hip reading the mind of a Gen-X college student.  May become the new hit among college going boys.

2. Oru Vaanavillin Pakkathilae - Listen here

Singer: Udit Narayanan

Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar

Oru Vaanavillin Pakkathilae is a hackneyed tune with an unconnected instrumentation. This only adds to the number of songs Yuvan has worked. Na. Muthukumar's lyric is battered by Udit Narayanan. Sadly even Yuvan thinks if a song is to be called youthful then that has to be mauled by a non-Tamil who would rightly mispronounce the words. This fixation will do no good to any.

3. Enna Enna Aagiraen - Listen here

Singer: Vijay Yesudas

Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar

Vijay Yesudas is perfect in this deeply insightful lyric of Na. Muthukumar. The Even though it recaps `Minnalgal Koothadum Mazhaikalam' it scores on the whole.  Simplistic notes and the guitar may scatter the attention a while but you'll come back to it sooner.

4. Saamy Varuguthu - Listen here

Singer: Chidambaram Sivakumar Poosari

Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar

Just a situational song with udukai and nagaswaram coming hard throughout. Slightly different from the regular `kovil poosari' songs you would have heard before.

5. Anbulla Sandhya - Listen here

Singer: Karthik

Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar

"Anbulla Sandhya" sounds like a melancholy. It is slow and in the process became little prosaic which gives a feeling there is not much music in the song. A versatile singer like Karthik must have forced this song upon himself. The interludes are just breaks. No major orchestration gives the vocal the needed importance. Karthik saves it.

This is a very different album from Yuvan who has stayed away from his regular lively fast numbers and peppy romantic melodies. `Kadhal Solla Vanthen' may not be a match to `Paiyaa' likes but is does have a blissful touch in a couple of songs. Exclusively targeted at youth segment `Kadhal Solla Vanthen' songs are for them.
