Kajal on natural looks, vegetarianism, giving back & more

Ahead of the release of 'Ranarangam' on August 15, Kajal Aggarwal has spoken with IndiaGlitz on the film and other topics.

Describing the Sharwanand film as a racy, stylish, slick action film, Kajal says that the film begins with her role. "My character keeps appearing throughout," she reveals. Incidentally, on the same day, her Tamil film 'Comali' is also hitting the screens. "I am excited. There is no pressure. Both films are very different. 'Ranarangam' is action-driven, racy. 'Comali' is a full-on comedy, and is wacky," she says.

Kajal is proud that 'AWE' has won two National Awards. "I am proud of 'AWE', and I congratulate the entire team," the diva says, adding that she is not producing any movie with director Prashant Varma, contrary to rumours.

The song 'Pilla Picture Perfect' in 'Ranarangam', her fans say, suits her the best. "A very big thank you to everyone who thinks the song is appropriate for me. I am perfectly balanced. I balance out my personal and professional lives and that way the song is apt for me," she says.

Kajal recently did a photoshoot without sporting make-up. What is the idea behind it? "I wanted to convey that make-up is not the end of the world. Beauty is about your personality. It's about building your character, integrity on the way," she observes.

The 'Paris Paris' (Tamil) actress believes that vegetarianism can make you stronger. "I am a vegetarian but not a vegan. For 'Indian-2', I have to be really strong. Fitness should be equated with strength, stamina and immunity. Training for Kalaripayattu is very difficult. If your body is not moulded for martial arts, it's not easy at all," she adds.

Her sister Nisha's son, Ishaan, means a lot to her. "Ishaan fulfills my motherly instincts. I do seek companionship (in terms of marriage). When I find the right person, I will get married. I am not in a hurry," she says.

Talking about her social work, Kajal says, "All it takes is a desire to help, to give back. I am involved with working on rejuvenating the Cauvery river, which is an initiative of the Isha Foundation. We need to focus on saving our rivers right now. Forget next generation, we ourselves won't be having enough water a few years from now. The drying of rivers has to be stopped by planting trees."

Throwing light on her association with Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev's spiritual programme, Kajal reveals, "I had done my Inner Engineering online in some hotel in Serbia years ago. I felt his grace. It's through my mother that I got in touch with him."
