Bollywood actress Kajol has issued a public clarification regarding her recent comment suggesting that Ramoji Film City (RFC) in Hyderabad felt haunted. The remark stirred backlash among the film fraternity and fans, as RFC is one of India’s most prominent and active film studios, catering to Bollywood, Tollywood, and Kollywood productions daily.
The comment, made during promotions for her upcoming film MAA, sparked renewed debate after old videos of other celebrities discussing eerie experiences at RFC resurfaced online. The studio's management and cinephiles expressed disappointment, especially considering that Kajol’s husband, Ajay Devgn, has frequently shot his Hindi films at the location.
In an effort to clear the air, Kajol took to X.com on Monday to explain the context and reaffirm her respect for RFC.
Kajol’s official statement: “I wish to address my earlier remark about Ramoji Film City in the context of promoting my film MAA. I have filmed multiple projects at Ramoji Film City and stayed there many times over the years. I have always found it to be a very professional environment for filmmaking and I have seen so many tourists enjoying themselves. It’s a great destination and absolutely safe for families and children.”
With her clarification, Kajol aims to put an end to any misunderstanding, emphasizing her appreciation for Ramoji Film City’s professionalism and family-friendly appeal.
