Kajol talks about the best thriller flick of her career

Back in the year 1997, actors Bobby Deol and Kajol starred in a film titled 'Gupt' which turned out to be one of the most successful Bollywood thrillers of all time. Over time, the film has attained a cult status and recently it completed 25 years of its theatrical release. Kajol marked this ocassion by talking about the film in a recent interview.
Talking about what made 'Gupt' stand out, Kajol told PTI, It was the shock value of the film, the character and the fact that nobody expected it to come. It was gutsy at that time to do it. It's the story and role that's what really got me to do it.
Another factor which added to the success of 'Gupt' was lack of other means of entertainment back in the day. Talking about that, Kajol said, It was also the time when there was nothing else (mediums). A big film would definitely be a hit as we didn't have social media and had no other form of entertainment, except cinema. So, for a film to do 25 weeks or a golden jubilee was much easier then. There is so much competition with a big screen today.
