Kalidas Jayaram's next to release on OTT platform

After nearly 11 long months, the theatres in Kerala reopened with the release of Thalapathy Vijay's superhit movie 'Master' helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Though the reopening of theatres received a warm reception from the audience, a few filmmakers are still preferring to release their movies directly on OTT platforms.
The latest update is that Kalidas Jayaram starrer movie Back Packers is prepping up for an OTT release. Helmed by the critically acclaimed director Jayaraj, the movie will be released on February 5, 2021 through a new OTT platform called Roots.
The movie which revolves around two cancer patients has Karthika Nair in the female lead. Despite its theme, it is said that the movie isn’t a heart-rending one but a happy film about celebration of love. The other cast members include, Renji Panicker, Shivajith Padmanabhan, Thatteem Mutteem fame Jayakumar and Sabitha Jayaraj.
Produced by Dr Suresh Kumar Muttath under the banner of Prakriti Films, the movie's cinematography is by Abhinandan Ramanujan. The film has seven songs by Sachin Shanker, four of which are written by the director himself.
