Kamal calls on Rajini, invites him for his Wednesday meeting

Actor Kamal Haasan called on superstar Rajinikanth at the latter’s Poes Garden residence in Chennai yesterday to invite him to attend the political meeting organized by him in Madurai on Wednesday (21st February).

It may be recalled that Rajini expressed his disgust at the ‘rotten political system’ in May last year; he later met his fans and held consultations with well-wishers before announcing on 31st December his decision to take to active politics. He said he wanted to give ‘something’ back to the people and added that his party would contest from all the 234 Assembly constituencies when polls are held.

Kamal Haasan had been highly critical of the rulers of the State for a year now and hinted during his last year’s hugely popular ‘Bigg Boss’ reality show that he would attempt to ‘cleanse’ politics. He had earlier said that he would commence his tour of the State from 21st February (Wednesday) onwards from ‘missile man’ and former ‘people’s President’ Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s Memorial at Rameswaram.

Kamal also invited Rajini to attend his first-ever political (public) meeting scheduled to be held on the same day at Madurai. This is the first one-to-one meeting between the two towering stars of Kollywood after their political ambitions were revealed.  “I invited Rajini for the meeting,” Kamal said while Rajini said he wished Kamal success for all his endeavours.

“Our styles in politics would be very different similar to our films which were poles apart. All of us know that Kamal is not in politics for fame or for money,” Rajini said even as he saw Kamal off by closing the car door after the latter got into it!

That’s Rajini for you, the ever simple human!
