Renowned Indian actor, filmmaker, and innovator Kamal Haasan recently visited the San Francisco headquarters of Perplexity, a cutting-edge AI-powered search platform. During the visit, he met with Aravind Srinivas, the co-founder and CEO of Perplexity, sparking a meaningful exchange between cinema and technology.

Haasan, known for his decades of innovation in Indian cinema, connected with Srinivas, a prominent figure in AI development. Their discussion highlighted a mutual drive for creativity and excellence across industries. Haasan later shared his thoughts on social media, saying he was inspired by Perplexity’s work and the role of curiosity in driving progress.

“From cinema to Silicon, the tools evolve—but our thirst for what’s next remains,” Haasan wrote, praising Srinivas and his team for their innovative contributions.

Aravind Srinivas responded warmly, appreciating Haasan’s interest in technology and filmmaking’s future. He wished the actor success in his upcoming film, Thug Life.

Thug Life is Kamal Haasan’s highly anticipated film directed by Mani Ratnam, with music by A.R. Rahman. Co-produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, R. Mahendran, and Siva Ananth, the film stars Haasan as Rangaraaya Sakthivel Naicker, alongside an ensemble cast. It is set for worldwide theatrical release on June 5, 2025.

Aravind Srinivas, an IIT Madras and UC Berkeley alumnus, founded Perplexity AI in 2022 after working with top tech firms like OpenAI, DeepMind, and Google. Perplexity combines AI and search to deliver accurate, citation-backed answers and is supported by industry leaders including Jeff Bezos and Yann LeCun.
