The Makkal Needhi Maiam leader Kamal Haasan has congratulated the new Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK head M.K. Stalin. In his message on twitter written in Tamil he has written "My hearty congrats to M.K. Stalin for your major victory. You are assuming power as CM of Tamil Nadu at a very difficult time. My best wishes for you to function efficiently and take the state on the path of growth".

During the election campaigns, Kamal Haasan went all guns blazing against Stalin and the DMK as much as he did the ruling CM, EPS, and his ADMK party. His fans however have welcomed his civil gesture in wishing the seasoned politician who has been waiting in the wings for decades and has finally captured the throne.

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan who contested the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections from the Coimbatore South constituency lost to the BJP leader Vanathi Srinivasan by 1500 votes after giving a tough fight. His MNM party however drew a blank in all the constituencies contested and Seeman's NTK surging ahead of it to third place after the DMK and ADMk.
