After their iconic collaboration in the film ‘Nayakan’, Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam are reuniting for a new film titled ‘Thug Life’. The film features Silambarasan T.R, Trisha, Nassar, and Joju George in prominent roles. It is being produced under the banners of Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, R. Mahendran, and Siva Anand. Music is composed by A.R. Rahman, and cinematography is handled by Ravi K. Chandran. The first single from the movie, scheduled for release on June 5, was released today, accompanied by a media event.

Speaking at the event, Kamal Haasan said, “Nothing has changed between me and Mani Ratnam. When we first met on Eldams Road, we used to sit on motorcycles and talk for hours. We’ve only been able to execute 25% of what we planned. ‘Nayakan’ was one, now it’s ‘Thug Life’. We still have a long way to go since we’ve never been able to bring all our creative dreams to life due to budget and market constraints. The reason we hadn’t collaborated all these years is ours. Now we are back together — thanks to you all. A film can succeed or fail, but final judgment always lies with the audience.”

Kamal added, “I call Mani Ratnam ‘5.30 Mani Ratnam’ because he always arrives on set by 5:30 am, a habit since ‘Nayakan’ times. That reminds me of director Balachander. Interestingly, no heroine has ever said ‘I love you’ to me onscreen. But Joju George says it every time he sees me!”

He also shared, “There’s a deep emotional connection between Simbu and his father T.R. If his father shows me affection, Simbu doubles it. In a competitive industry filled with egos, finding such friendships is rare.”
