After their iconic 1987 film "Nayakan", Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam have reunited for the upcoming movie "Thug Life". The film features a stellar cast including Silambarasan, Abhirami, Trisha, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, and Nassar. Music is composed by A.R. Rahman while cinematography is handled by Ravi K. Chandran.
At a recent press event, Kamal Haasan shared his thoughts: "This film marks my return with Mani Ratnam post 'Nayakan'. Both of us have gained more experience since then. We are not the same Kamal or Mani from that time—we have evolved. Mani Ratnam has now reached the creative space he aimed for since the beginning. Our goal was never to recreate 'Nayakan' memories but to craft something completely fresh. I believe we’ve achieved that."
Kamal also mentioned visiting the U.S. to learn more about Artificial Intelligence (AI). "AI is bigger than any one of us. We shouldn’t use it without understanding its impact. Though it's still in early stages in cinema, it will soon be a major part of everyone's lives. There’s no need to fear it overtaking us," he added.
Actor Silambarasan spoke about working with Kamal Haasan, saying, "I’ve learned so much from him daily. I can’t list it all. Watching him act sometimes makes me forget I’m acting too. There were no creative differences between us." On being asked about his marriage plans, he replied, "It will happen at the right time."
Actresses Abhirami, Trisha, and actor Ashok Selvan were also present at the event.
