In Vellore, there has been a tough fight between the contestants, DMK candidate Kathir Anand, who happens to be the son of DMK treasurer Duraimurugan, and New Justice party leader AC Shanmugam. Recently the income tax officials conducted raids in the residence and educational institutions owned by Durai Murugan, and seized documents and cash worth 10 lakhs.

In another raid conducted in a cement factory near Vellore, sacks of money worth crores, were seized, with the list of wards and the money to be distributed there and this factory belonged to DMK member Pooncholai Sreenivasan. With suspicions over the conduct of elections after these raids, the IT department has submitted a report to EC. Speaking on this issue, Kamal Haasan said that the election must not be conducted in Vellore constituency, as crores of money has been seized.
