Kamal Haasan the Makkal Needhi Mandram leader may have suffered a massive defeat in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu general elections but his status as the giant doyen of Tamil cinema has not been affected one bit. In fact, millions of fans are actually happy that he will continue to do more films only he can do and create more unbreakable records in Indian cinema.

Kamal's 'Indian 2' directed by Shankar which is the sequel of the duo's pan Indian blockbuster 1996 film. It went on floors several months ago but has been marred by one production woe after another that includes a major makeup glitch, on screen accident that killed three crew members, the COVID 19 pandemic, and now the creative difference between Shankar and producer Lyca Productions which has resulted in a court case.

Kamal meanwhile planned to make 'Vikram' directed by 'Master' director Lokesh Kanagaraj after the elections but the coronavirus second wave disrupted it. Now if an amicable solution is found for 'Indian 2' it will be first film to resume and will be completed in sixty to seventy days nonstop.

If that is not the case then Kamal wanted to start 'Vikram' but it also involves the call sheet adjustment of two other super busy actors Vijay Sethupathi and Fahaadh Faasil and also extensive action sequences that may involve a larger crew.

Hence there is a buzz that the Ulaganayagan may opt to sign the Tamil remake of Drishyam 2' with original director Jeethu Joseph and complete it within a short period of one month. It is worth mentioning that the ace director made the quickie with superstar Mohan Lal during the first wave of COVID when relaxations were announced.

The Tamil remake of 'Drishyam' titled 'Papanasam' had Kamal and Gautami in the lead and went on to become a huge blockbuster hit when released in 2015. it is said that the same team of Kamal, Jeethu Joseph and producer Sripriya will reunite for 'Papanasam 2' minus Gauthami who has had a fallout with Kamal a few years back.

'Papanasam 2' is in the nascent stage now and the project beginning before 'Indian 2' and 'Vikram' depends on several external factors and the news has to be taken with a pinch of salt until official confirmation arrives.
