Kamal salutes magistrate and constable fighting for justice to Jayaraj and Bennicks

The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court today ordered the immediate probe into the deaths of father-son duo Jeyaraj and Bennicks stating that there is prima facia evidence that they were subjected to police brutality. The key officials involved for this popular decision welcomed by all in Tamil Nadu and India are magistrate Bharathidasan and constable Revathi who dared the policemen's threats on them to seek justice for the wronged.

A week back Jayaraj and Bennicks who run a cellphone shop in Sathankulam were taken into custody due to a minor violation of lockdown rules for keeping their shop open allegedly past the stipulated time. A few days later they passed away with severe bleeding and bruised bodies. The incident became a national and international sensation and many celebrities from the Tamil and Indian film industries voiced their dissent and need for justice.

Kamal Haasan who was one of the fist to condemn the deaths has now lauded the efforts of those who are involved in the Madurai High Court. He has written in Tamil "My heartiest congratulations to Magistrate Bharathidasan who is striving to uphold justice, the Madurai High Court which is standing by him and constable Revathi who boar witness with a conscience with relation to the Sathankulam double murder case".
