It 2002 on Pongal day when Ajith`s Red` clashed with Kamal Haasan`s Pammal K Sambandham` the result was the Ulaganayagan`s film scored marginally better over the Thala movie at the box office.

This Diwali on the 10th of November Vedhalam` starring Ajith and Shruti Haasan and Thoongavanam` starring Kamal and Trisha are clashing at the box office after thirteen years. It is being said that Vedhalam` has been acquired by Jazz Cinemas a new company who have reportedly booked all major big screens in all territories and Thoongavanam` is coming on relatively lesser screens. Both the luminaries command a huge opening at the box office but who will emerge the winner of course depends on content to sustain in the long run.
