The long due verdict of the Babar Masjid demolition case that has been going on for twenty-eight years has been delivered and has received a mixed reactions from the public. The court has acquitted all the 32 accused including BJP leaders L.K. Advani, Uma Bharathi, Murali Manohar Joshi and others citing that there is no evidence that the demolition was preplanned. Sixteen of the accused have already passed away while the remaining are alive and have welcomed the verdict as justice served at last.

Makkal Needhi Maiam leader Kamal Haasan has reacted strongly to the Court verdict on the Babar Masjid demolition case. In his usual cryptic style, he has written in Tamil "Is it the irresponsible act of those who filed the case and failed to submit the necessary evidences and put forth strong arguments? Or is it a planned act? The belief of the Indian citizen that justice will be upheld should not be in vain."

Kamal is apparently referring to the Indian government that filed the case against the leaders of Hindu parties that were involved in leading a rally on December 6th 1992 at the disputed site in Amethi.
