Mohanlal is at a stage of his career where doesn't have to prove anything more. He has done the best of roles. He has won the National award. He has given some of the biggest hits. So there is nothing left for him to achieve.

But the star is not a person to rest on his laurels. A true professional that he is, he wants to give a hit every time. The anemic showing of his films at the box office in recent times must have hurt him. That is why his Kanal is very important for him.

It is a movie that Mohanlal would want to show to the rest of the world that he is still badshah of box office.

The movie, originally started by Lal Jose, is directed by Viji Thambi.

The movie is set in a rural ambience. It is about a man Balaraman (Mohanlal) and his fight with his own feelings of anger and antagonism. This lorry driver, who transports bamboo, is a loof and doesn't mix with others.

There is a reason for his stand of fishness. His bitter past has made the man he is. So what are his secrets? Padmapriya, an innocent village belle, seeks him and draws him out.

But the violence doesn't stop. It is a gripping tale told with conviction and care.

Mohanlal and Padmapriya have come together again.

The film has a large cast and is produced by the Seven Arts banner.

Viji Thambi is the director.
