Of late speculations were rife that filmmaker Ketan Mehta's next venture 'Rani Laxmibai', starring Kangana Ranaut in lead, has been shelved. This news actually surprised as well as amused the entire team. While Kangana was quite shocked, the director laughed it off as gossip mongers' mischief.

Sources claimed that Kangana, who is currently in London attending Women in the World summit, got worried and called up Ketan Mehta to enquire whether the project is really not happening. Since 'Rani Laxmibai' is a magnum opus they need at least one year of pre-production which is already under way and have invested a lot of money on the same."Naturally, we panicked but in the past, too, we have been a victim of such fabricated stories which were spread to harm our projects," quoted Kangana in an interview.

On the other hand, Ketan Mehta clarified that the film is very much on and it's running as per the schedule.
